October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. I want to provide some points of interest and information regarding breast cancer, breast health, and the benefits of juicing for women and their overall wellness. My hope is that no woman or her family ever goes through the rigors and battles of breast cancer, however that is not realistic. My next hope is that every woman arm themselves with every weapon against it that they possibly can and fight it like a BOSS!
The stats are startling: 1 in every 8 American women will develop breast cancer. The American Institute of Cancer Research wrote that up to 40 percent of these cases could be prevented if people practiced smarter lifestyle choices. Juicing can be one of those.
The benefit of juicing, especially if you are having challenges with your health, is that you can absorb higher doses of nutrients with less effort. In the study, rats with a certain type of breast cancer were exposed to apigenin and saw fewer tumors and significant delays in tumor growth and formation. The study led researchers to conclude that apigenin is a true, natural cancer fighter.
Sulforaphane is an isothiocyanate compound found in cabbage. It has been found to prevent and treat breast cancer by targeting cancer stem cells that feed tumors and stimulating genes that fight cancer and tumors.
These are just a couple of examples and the research is loaded with information as to the benefits of raw vegetable and fruit juice consumption when it comes to cancers.
